How do I use the new dynamic text feature in Photoshop to style a quote or phrase?

Photoshop’s new dynamic text feature makes it simple to style a quote or phrase with just one click. It automatically (automagically) adjusts the text to fit inside a bounding box.
This is perfect for posters, cards, manifestos, and branding designs. Today a step-by-step tutorial on this new feature, plus a quick how-to add your textures to your Creative Cloud Libraries.

How to Use the Photoshop Dynamic Text Feature Video Tutorial

The Step-by-Step Bullet List

Start with a background

In the video, I used one of my analog paper textures from the Creative Cloud Libraries. You can open your texture or paper background first.

Copy your quote

Choose the quote or phrase you want to use. I copied mine from my Antinote app using Command C.

Draw a bounding box

Select the Type Tool (T) and drag out a bounding box. It doesn’t need to be precise.

Paste your text

Use Command V (or Control V on Windows) to paste your text into the bounding box.

Click the dynamic type button

Look for the new dynamic option in the text settings bar. (lightning symbol). Once clicked, it automatically resizes and styles your text to fit perfectly in the box.

Tips to style your text further

☐ Try uppercasing key words

☐ Highlight a word and retype it in all caps. The box will automatically update.

☐ Play with italics or different weights

☐ Change the font style for contrast and emphasis. For example, italicize one word to break up the visual flow.

☐ Resize the bounding box

Pull the corners of the box to see the text dynamically adapt. It expands or contracts to stay within the shape.

☐ Center your text

Use the Move Tool (V) to select your text and background layer. Then use Photoshop’s align tools to center it horizontally and vertically.

How to Add Textures and Frames to your Creative Cloud Libraries

For quick access to your favourite digital assets, consider adding them to your CC Libraries.

☐ Create a new library (or open an existing one)

☐ Drag and drop your frame images into the panel

☐ Use them across documents on any device logged into Creative Cloud.

To use one in your layout, simply drag it onto your canvas. Resize and reposition as needed, and adjust your quote to fit inside the frame using Command T.

Why I love the Dynamic Text Feature

Before, making styled text like this required careful manual adjustments—multiple layers, nudging, and guesswork. Now? One click, creates pretty impressive results.

You can use this for:

☐ Greeting cards

☐ Social media quotes

☐ Brand messages

☐ Printable posters

☐ Creative journal pages

Think of those classic manifestos or bold typographic art prints… This new tool makes that style easy and accessible.

It’s simple, fast, and actually pretty fun.
