A Different Kind of Diptych

Spoiler alert: a peek inside the White Space print giveaway, plus my current diptych obsession.

I was prepping the White Space mail packages this week. Two 3x4 postcards in each one. If you've never printed a 3x4 postcard, there's something special about it. You really should.

I laid mine out on a 4x6 page in the Lightroom print module, printed them, then trimmed them in half.

And then it hit me.

What if I made a different kind of diptych?

Two compatible images, laid out on the same template, printed, cut in half, then stapled back together.

You might wonder why not just print it as one. To me, the cut and the staple give it more depth. It feels intentional. A little contradictory too: pretty photos with the pages stapled together. I LOVE it.

I tried a few different ways with staples (you can see them in the photo above). I even tried string, tying them together so they could stand on their own. I'm still experimenting. I have an idea for a better way. I'll share once I figure it out.

DIPTYCH

The Lightroom print template is below, along with a video walking through the steps. All I really did was set up the template, drop in compatible photos, print, cut, and staple.

I keep thinking I'm missing something. What else could we use beyond staples and string?

If you're one of the ten, your mail will be on its way soon.
And if you make a diptych of your own, I'd love to see it.

Enjoy.

xx Kim
